Starting JPI Urban
Simply Positive project

SIMPLY POSITIVE supports the emergence of Positive Energy Districts and the transition to Climate Neutral Cities. On the example of four focus districts from different European Countries, the consortium will establish and test strategies on how to tackle the necessary energy transition via: photovoltaic maximization, integration of electric vehicles in mobility concepts and usage as energy storage, usage patterns to increase energy efficiency and common climate and energy action plans.

Rooftop solar panels
visibility algorithm

In this project PV Works focussed on the historical city centre of Amsterdam. The PV potential across this area of the city was computed with and without filtering out those solar panels that could be visible from the public domain. Interestingly, even churches and monumental buildings could be endowed with solar panels that are not visible. This supports the municipality of Amsterdam in addressing permits even for protected buildings.
